Painting is one of my passions. Here I show several of the drawings and paintings that I have done, along with some comments about the moments that I lived while doing them. I hope you like it.

Purple against white (2010)
Acrylic on canvas, 100 x 81 cm
Painted in Madrid. In a couple of hours, with a brush in each hand, one with purple paint and the other one with white paint, and tapping both brushes against the canvas at the same time. I remember that time like fever and effervescence. After finishing it, I decided that it looked better upside down!

Gizmo and Moco (2009)
Acrylic on canvas
Painted in Madrid in September 2009.

Metro Sol (2009)
Acrylic on canvas, 20 x 20 cm
Painted in Madrid, trying to have a couple of paintings ready for a 20×20 exhibition in the art gallery next to my apartment. What I remember the most about this one is the times that I shared my doubts about painting with the lady gallery owner and she kept on telling me: Keep painting!

Edu in Malaga (2009)
Acrylic on canvas, 92 x 65 cm
Painted in Madrid from a picture of a friend. I don’t remember how many thousands of times I redrawn the leafs at the bottom, and still need a thousand more…

Girl (2005)
Watercolor on paper, 30 x 45 cm
Painted in Freiburg (Germany) during my stay with Prof Salim Al-Babili. Particularly proud of the hands shadows, which I decided to do with indigo. During these months with Salim, and rooted in previous work with Javier Avalos, we unveiled that the fungal kingdom is capable of biosynthesizing retinal!

Mikonos (2002)
Watercolor on canvas, 15 x 42 cm
Painted in Seville in (maybe) 2002, during my PhD. I remember my brain breaking down trying to figure out how to paint water! Finally I guess I got some kind of water effect…

Australia (2000)
Pencil on paper, 21 x 30 cm
Drawn in Pamplona (Spain) during my stay at the University of Navarra to learn the Northern blot technique. I copied it from a National Geographic magazine that I found in the apartment where I lived when I was studying Biochemistry. I remember being drawing the face of the girl sitting on the couch with my former university flatmates while watching TV.

Chaplin and the kid (1999)
Pencil on paper, 21 x 30 cm
Drawn while studying at University of Navarra. When I finished it I stored it in a binder and most of the graphite faded. And I had to redraw many parts of it!
